Frequently Asked Questions

What Time Will You Set Up?

We will arrive at the venue 60 - 90 minutes (if your venue permits) before the enterainment is due to start, that gives us plenty of time set up and check everything. If you want us to arrive earlier, for example, at your wedding reception before your meal, just let us know.

What sets Disco - Mobile DJ apart from all the other DJs/Mobile Discos?

We always put 100% into the planning, thought and effort of your event. With all functions, we want you to have as much input as you like into the evening or, we can assist you by presenting fresh ideas for your function. We'll never forget it’s YOUR event and we use our many years of experience of event planning, into making your event as good as it possibly can be.

What will you wear to our function?

We will always arrive at your function well groomed and appropriately dressed. We will not turn up and entertain you and your guests in jeans and t-shirt. You can be sure that we will always be appropriately dressed for your function.

What happens if you get a better offer’ on the day we have booked?

Once we have your completed booking form then the day is guaranteed to be yours.

We have a mixture of young and old guests; can you cater for all ages?

Yes, we have a wide variety of music to satisfy all musical tastes. Perhaps our most valuable skill is the ability to read a crowd and play the right kind of music at exactly the right time. Our wealth of experience means that all of your guests, from great grandparents to children will be musically satisfied.

Can I give you a list of songs I want played?

Yes we encourage this, it’s a great help to us to have an idea of what type of music you and your guests like. Just let us know in advance the songs that you would like played and we will guarantee to play them for you.

I have a song list (a long one) that I would like to be played?

The bigger the song list the better for us. it helps us to play the songs best suited for your function. Remember to think of your guests when requesting songs as although you may like them your guests might not!

How far in advance do I need to book?

We would advise you to book us as early as possible as we do not sub contract work out to other discos and only run one show. So, to avoid any disappointment reserve your date as soon as possible. Although late bookings are available if the date is not taken.

Will the music be too loud?

We believe in entertaining guests rather than deafening them. Music volume should be loud enough to entice people onto the dance floor, but not so loud that guests seated away from the dance floor area cannot easily chat. We have vast experience of entertaining guests of all ages and we’ve always been able to find a correct volume level that pleases all.

How would you handle a situation where you were ill and could not attend our function?

We have more than one DJ who is more than capable of taking over in the very unlikely event of this happening. We also use well serviced vehicles to get to and from your event and have never broken down.

I have a friend who has a friend who can do it cheaper.

The saying goes, you get what you pay for. Many mobile discos offer an inferior show costing a lot more. We would rather be working on a regular basis at a fair price than doing the occasional job at an extortionate price. We promise to give you quality at an affordable price. We believe you will not find a comparative quality disco at the same price we quote you for the function.

I have a friend who is a DJ, can he play a set?

No. For insurance & safety reasons we only allow our own staff to use our equipment.

Will you keep talking on the microphone over the music all night?

At the vast majority of functions we find that guests prefer not to hear the DJ cracking corny jokes throughout the evening, and stating the title and artists of every song just played as if he's on a radio station. We will of course read out requests/dedications, birthday shouts etc but on the whole we prefer to let the music do the talking.

What happens if your equipment fails?

We have back up equipment, our music is played via a laptop and external hard drive. Our music is backed up on the hard drive and a further laptop is on standby as well as a twin CD player.

Are you insured?

Yes, we hold £2m worth of Public Liability Insurance. We are finding that more and more venues are asking for proof of this and if the DJ doesn't have this they will not be allowed to play, thus ruining your night.
